About our project

The Silk Keffiyeh Project, ເເຄະເຟຍ ຜ້າໄຫມ, is a textile-art project aimed at sparking discussion and deeper reflection among the Lao and Southeast Asian diaspora about their relationship with the Palestinian people. In both SEA and Palestinian cultures, weaving and textiles are unique, integral parts to their identity. This project hopes to bridge the gap between the two through this common cultural pillar. Using fine Lao silk instead of the usual Palestinian cotton, the Silk Keffiyeh is a symbol of the interwoven anti-imperialist struggles faced by the Lao people of the past and the Palestinian people of today.

Where the money goes

50% of funds from all silk keffiyeh sales goes directly to the weaver and 50% goes towards the Sameer Project and Healing our Homeland, charities that both operate directly inside Gaza and within refugee camps in occupied West Bank, Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon.

Healing Our Homeland

Healing Our Homeland provides a free-of-charge safe space for women and children in Gaza who seek healing, community, and enrichment. Group therapy, trauma counseling, Quran memorization, guided journaling, and open play sessions are hosted 5 days a week. Most recently, they published a coloring book made from Palestinian childrens’ drawings who are supported by their organization.

The Sameer Project x Translating Falasteen

The Sameer Project x Translating Falasteen has been supplying medication, treatments, visits to doctors, wound care, making specialist appointments, physiotherapy, psychotherapy, and collecting documents to facilitate evacuations in both the North, Central, and South of Gaza for the past year.
